The Christmas Killing Season Begins!!!

I've never LOVED going to Walmart. It's fine. But, I much prefer going to Target for all of my unnecessary shopping needs. However, while I never loved going there, I certainly never assumed that I was taking my life into my hands be making a visit.

Yet, this past week, on African American Friday, an innocent Walmart employee was killed, murdered some might say, by a large throng (that's the first time I have ever typed that word) of people obsessed with getting their hands on as many poorly constructed, plastic objects as they could.

Truthfully, is there ANYTHING at Walmart worth killing another human being over?

Sure, they sell Yoo-Hoo. As we all know, if you get in the way of someoene and their Yoo-Hoo, you get what you deserve. But, I was thinking more along the lines of a simple beating. I don't think I would kill someone who was delaying my purchase of the world's most perfect beverage........Of course, my fridge is safely stocked, with a week's supply. So, thankfully I don't have to make such decisions, yet..........Yet.

There was one thing, though I still don't believe it was worth killing a person over. You could get the Edward Norton version of "The Incredible Hulk" for a mere $9. Now, I like Edward Norton just fine. Like most people, I don't rush out and see his movies (The first rule of "Fight Club" is that not many people went to go see fight club.) Plus, he has kind of a lisp (yes he does....Infinity!!!), and I don't really see him as "The Hulk." Also, there were apparently creative differences over that movie that caused him to NOT promote it.

I know what you're thinking......

"What kind of 'creative differences' could they have over 'The Hulk?'"

Edward Norton: I think "Hulk" should be more of an "olive green."

Studio Head: No way. "Hulk" is CLEARLY more of a "hunter greenish" hue.

Edward Norton: Not if I'M "The Hulk".......I'll be in my trailor!!!!

Studio Head: Fine. "The Hulk's" not supposed to have a lisp, anyway.

Edward Norton: What!?!! HULK THMASH!!!!

Studio Head: See?

Edward Norton: Damn it.

So, people were willilng to kill a man, so that they would only have to pay $9 to see the olive-green-lisping "Hulk." Reason enough to kill? I think not.

He wasn't even a real employee.

He was a temp.

I'll be the real employees were cowering in the back, somewhere, terrified of the "classy" Walmart shoppers who were about to kick down the door, and kill everyone. I have no proof of this, but I bet that if we were able to obtain secret, "internal" memos from Walmart, they would not refer to them as "temporary employees." I'll bet they use the phrase, "human sacrifices."

Of course, I'm just speculating......A little.

On a side note, Judi Franco is no longer with New Jersey 101.5. Judi co-hosted the "Dennis and Judi" show for more than 11 years.

On top of being a co-worker, Judi is a dear friend of mine. When I left NJ 101.5, back in 2002, I never stopped talking to Judi. When I lost my job, she was always there, willing to talk to me, and offering support.

Honestly, a lot of people in radio are evil, nasty, backstabbing bastards. Judi is not like that. Although we kidded each other on the air, we are great friends, and I love her like a sister......Though, she did once invite me to her house, but neglected to tell me where it was. An oversight, I'm sure.

Judi's gonna do great. She's already got a bunch of things going on, and is gonna do fine. Michelle is a great host, and "Dennis and Michelle" are gonna do great.

But, I'm not someone who handles change, very well, and I can't help feeling a little off, today.

BEST OF LUCK, JUDI!!!!

I miss you already.

Casey

This is a prime example of what is wrong with this country (world).
Everyone is in such a hurry to get what THEY want that they will step on (in this case literally) anyone and everyone in their way.
Until people in general start thinking about how their actions effect (or is it affect, or is it both?) other people this country (world) will never change.
It is a sad time we live in. You can’t even open a door at a temp job without being trampled by the hungry mob of A-holes.
Why would you even go outside on African-American Friday?
I limited myself to the porch.

Oh the humanity! I'd rather SPEND an extra $100 bucks and shop on-line than be included in that kind of savagery. Can I afford it? No. Do I want to live? Yes. It saddens me to see that this is what we have become as a society. African American Friday shoppers, shame on you.

So sad to hear the news about Judi. After 11 years, why no mention on the air?

What's up with Judi? Why did she leave? Not happy.

Hi Casey
Happy Thanksgiving.
Im so glad you mentioned Judi on your blog. Ive never been a fan of the radio "disappearing" thing. people are just disposable, disappear and no mention. Judi's been around for 11 years and it would be nice to hear the reason she is gone etc. Having listened for some many years one could wonder if Mark is Ill, she is ill etc etc. at least when you and Scott left, I guess since you were going out of the area, I seem to remember hearing about it before hand!!. Anyway, Hope your little man is well and you have all adjusted to being together again!!!

Mentions of Judi! Most appreciated Casey, you kermit the frog sounding mofu.

Casey,
Thanks for mentioning Judi, though now it is confirmed, what I was hoping wasn't true. I am so sad!!! I loved Judi. She and Dennis were great together. I have listened to them since 1999, and I feel I have lost a friend. Sad, in a strange way.

I hope that management has the decency and courtesy to inform 1015's listeners what happened to Judi. We've been listening for 11 yrs. and they owe us an explanation.

I found this post because I have an Ed Norton google alert, so don't mind the drive-by too much (no pun intended) but quite a few people saw Fight Club. The movie grossed $12mil its opening weekend in the US alone, $37mil worldwide. After a three month run in theaters, it topped out at just shy of $75mil worldwide. That's a fair chunk of change for a movie that was only released to 1,200 screens. I swear I'm not trying to be facetious! Figured I would throw that correction out there.

Anonymous said...

What happened to Judi? Are they going to give an explanation as to why she left? I drive all over NJ and Dennis & Judi and Casey & Ray get me through the day. It's just not the same with Michelle.

Friday I had to put my beloved dog Tasha to sleep and spent the weekend feeling lonely and sad. I look for Dennis and Judi and Casey and Rossi to lift my spirits everyday and when I realized Judi was gone I felt lonely and sad once again. I don't like change either and now there is a void on sofa and on my radio. You are a good friend to Judi as well and she WILL be missed.

I am so disturbed that people would actually trample another human being for a piece of plastic crap (just to save a few dollars?). How terribly pathetic and what a statement for the human race. Also disturbing was news of Judi's sudden departure. Judi and Dennis had the best on air chemistry and a wonderful, funny show that I will miss deeply. Good luck Judi. Patty

Thank you for mentioning Judi Casey. Have people gotten so impersonal that she doesn't even get the respect of saying what happened? Did they think that maybe we wouldn't notice she wasn't there? Incredible!

Ok, either somebody spills the beans about Judi or I am ripping the radio dial off and cutting 101.5 out of my life. Seriously, I don't like being dropped. That isn't the way to treat people. So, what's up?

Anonymous said...

I agree with Julie!! We deserve answers NJ1015!!! You don't just off somebody, and act like it didn't happen. It's not like Judi to just leave without saying goodbye either.

Anonymous said...

We miss Judi already - will probably not listen in AM any longer - Not the same without her - I hope it was her choice and she did it for something better - The loss is to 101.5 not her....

I sincerely hope that Management has the decency to offer an explanation at 10:09 Tuesday morning as to why Judi is no longer broadcasting. I understand that Dennis probably isn't allowed to mention it, but, after 11 years Management owes its audience the courtesy of a complete explanation...NOT just courtesy "lip-service." Dennis & Michelle will NEVER have the same on-air chemistry that Dennis & Judi had. If it's at all possible, BRING JUDI FRANCO BACK!

Casey,
You and Ray have a great show. Thank you so much for mentioning Judi in your blog. She and Dennis were so great together. They were on the air for 11 years and no one even told us she would no longer be on with Dennis. What a shock I got when I put 101.5's home page on my computer and saw that everything about Judi had disappeared. Thank you for being such a good friend to Judi. Please let her know her fans miss her and wish she were still here. Hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving.

Casey, thank you for your note about Judi, and your message of support for her. I'm so disappointed with NJ 101.5 today. Any radio station is very little without its listeners, and I wish Management could have shown sufficient decency and courtesy to those listeners to have said something about Judi, rather than whitewash over everything, delete her pictures from the website, and act as if nothing had changed. I really hope she and her family are ok. The 10-to-2 slot won't be the same without her hilarious impressions, wry asides, and great choice of songs every Friday.

Alright so Judi may have spilled her coffee all over the studio causing everyone to move? Its no reason to make her leave after 11years of Joy

thanks for mentioning Judi. I listened in today and it was painful. I feel bad for Dennis but oh, no Michele does not do it!! I like Dennis too much to listen to him struggle to be funny - he didn't have to struggle with Judi!! very sad :(

Good of you to mention Judi's absence. I suppose she left for a good reason - I'm sure the station did not ask her to leave? Too bad they did not have the common courtesy to mention her. She is just gone? Poof

Anonymous said...

I don't care if she left or she was fired. I like Dennis too much to listen to him struggle with Michele. I won't be listening any more

ARE YOU CRYING???? Yes, I am actually crying, to find out that Judi is no longer on 101.5. I can't believe that she would leave without saying a word, and that the station hasn't said anything either. At least when Craig left, the station mentioned it, and people called in to voice their opinions; they should do the same now. What about Judi's father? I do impressions of him, and I know all of his sayings by heart. Judi, I love you, I wish you good luck and hatzlahah, and I hope to hear you on the radio again.

I'm not even going to go into Walmart,it's been said already.
I am going to miss Judi too.

Anonymous said...

Sorry to hear about Judi. I am baffled at the station not mentioning this after her 11 year stint there. We aren't stupid, though. Usually when a radio DJ or TV celeb. leaves a show like that it is, usually, due to irreconcilable differences.
It's ok....Judy, you do what you need to do. Good luck !

Hey Casey would you smack Dennis around for me? lol I mean could he have been any more "vague" in his comment to us about Judi's departure? sheesh!!!!!

Hi! Casey,
101.5 is on my radio while driving to work every morning. Then, when I get to my desk, I have it on my computer.
The personalities become part of the daily routine and so, when I didn't hear Judy, I thought she was on vacation. But when her photo was missing from the Home Page, I knew something was wrong.
Thank you for mentioning her in your blog and just like the other listeners stated, I hope she and her family are fine.
Will the station reveal the reasons why she is gone? I understand about people's privacy but you folks become a big part of our days and when you're gone, we ask, 'What happened?'
Your station is great! Keep up the good work!

With regards to the WalMart incident, this is yet another reason why we should ban that evil store from New Jersey. WalMart doesn't even buy American, never mind New Jerseyan. The only good thing they have done in this state is give one thing that the people of Edison and Mayor Choi can agree on: we don't want them here, never have and never will.

With regards to Judi leaving, it was clear that somebody was leaving since Michelle2 acquitted herself well during Michelle1's maternity leave. What is not clear is why Judi was the one out in this round of musical radio hosts. It would be nice to know what Judi is doing next before she turns up on a morning television show.

I CAN'T BELIEVE Judy is no longer with NJ 101.5. I am 24 yrs old and never ever listened to talk radio,, I meen why would I??? Thats what my Dad listens to and he's old! LOL. But I came across the dennis and judy show one day and fell in love then continued to listen to the jersey guys. And I truely think that when Casey and Judy are missing on either one of their shows it makes a HUGE difference and I dont even listen to the shows that day. Its not the same. So its sad to say but I cant stand michelle's voice and can hardly tolerate it at night and WILL NOT tolerate it during the day, so I will no longer be listening from 10-2. Sorry dennis. And the same goes for casey and rossi. If casy leaves it will be way toooo boring and wont listen! So Casey....for the sake of Talk Radio PLEASE GO NO WHERE!!!

I am sorry to hear that Judi is no longer with NJ101.5.

I'm sure she is fine. If I had to guess..her leaving was not a happy one, but one never knows.

Though it was rather abrubt, so I agree with many posters here that a brief explanation would be nice. I didn't get to listen to Dennis & Judi as much as I wanted to, but I enjoyed their program very much.

It won't be the same....

Thanks

Thank you Judi Franco for your gift over the years of making me laugh. Countless times when I have been stuck in my head feeling unhappy about one thing or another, you, together with Denis, would change my mood and consequently change the rest of my day. Do what you need to do for yourself and your family and I as well as many others will always be grateful for your gift of humor. Godspeed

WOW, Judi leaving is VERY sad. I hate the fact that 101.5 hides the fact prior to someone leaving and then just move on. Why not pay tribute to all that Judi did while she was on 101.5? I realize you need to move on, but why not give the listeners what they want. The show will never be the same. Some people just have chemistry. You had that chemistry with Scott. You're current show is ok but the chemistry is not as good as it was with Scott. I was very disappointed when you guys left and 101.5 just ignored it. I think you handled taking over from Craig very well. Personally I think the Carton and Casey show would rock!

I'll like to thank Judi for all the memories. I can only imagine that this decision is based on her family needing her. I know she loved her job and only her family could have changed her priorities. Judi we MISS you and the show won't be nearly as good. Take care and God bless!

Anonymous said...

Casey - thanks for having the balls to mention Judy in your blog.

We miss her and feel it won't be long before Dennis leaves - its just not the same without her - he sounds blah and sad. Michele (no offense) but she just doesn't add anything to the show - no chemistry - stick to late night.

IF YOUR READING THIS JUDY...can you send out a blog letting your fans who care about you know how your doing and if your at another radio station? YOU ARE SORELY MISSED!

I also want to thank you Casey for commenting on Judi's departure. Jeff Edelstein, a reporter for the Trentonian had a brief interview with her in this weeks paper. She explains that she was not fired but did indeed leave to take care of her family. The station made a very bad decision in not letting her say good-bye. It shows a lack of respect for it's loyal listeners. I know Michelle will be fine, but no one can replace Judi. Dennis and Judi didn't even need a topic or callers to make their show great. Wouldn't it be great if the station would let her guest host once in a while. I bet their ratings would go through the roof! We love you Judi and wish you all the best.

Since I don't get a chance to listen to Dennis & Judi unless I run out of the office at lunch, I didn't even know she was gone. I enjoyed the show and wish her the best.

Oh, I like listening to you too, Casey ;-P

I hate to say this but I (yuck) work at a walmart. Our walmart had crazy ass people waiting outside at 11 p.m. Thanksgiving night for the 5 a.m. African American Friday opening. Our store also had to pay the local Police department for added security and protection.

I had the privledge of handing out the 50 inch Samsung plasma TV's, and the 46 inch LCD Samsung TV's. All of which were gone in less than 20 minutes, about 24 TV's total.
One nut came in an hour after all the larger TV's were gone (still had the 32 inch LCD) and wanted to know why all the larger ones were gone. Same guy came up to me 20 minutes later with the same questions.

As far as that poor guy who got trampled, walmart doesn't give a crap. They care more about the door that the crowd broke to get in the store.

Just let Judi know she will be missed!! I can't believe she's gone- 11 years is a long time - I will miss how she always reminded listeners to stay grounded & get real! I will also miss her Dad!!
Very Sad!! Would love to know what happend but - prayers are with her!

Even though I didn't share many of Judi's views, I loved listening to Dennis and Judi together. There was such chemistry and a comfort level. Michelle is too young to team with Dennis. It is kind of creepy. I can't listen to them. I switched stations until 2.

Anonymous said...

I still miss Judi as much as when I first learned that she was gone. Dennis is great but not so good with Michele so I just listen to you, Casey, and Ray. Judi please change your mind and come back. We need you to be with Dennis again and to continue with the diner tours. Hope your dad is ok. Best wishes to you always.

No! It's Dennis and Judi! I will miss Dennis calling her "Jude" and Judi calling him "Den" I loved them together...
At least I still have You!!!!! <3

It has been some time since Judi left 101.5. I have not listened to the show since it became Dennis and Michele. It just isn't the same and never will be again. Please Judi if you read this come back soon.

I loved the D&J show, but I cannot listen to Dennis strugle with a different personality. Like he said so long ago while looking at her ass, "we were made for eachother"
I won't be listening to 101.5 anymore.
Thank you Casey , for writing a great blog.

HI CASEY! I DISAGREE WITH MANY LISTNERS ABOUT THE JUDI SITUATION. I COULD NOT STAND HER AND THE WAY SHE GOT HER KICKS ON PUTTING PEOPLE OF OTHER ETHNIC BACKGROUNDS DOWN. HER LAUGH AND OVERALL VOICE WAS NOT EASY TO LISTEN TOO EITHER. SHE MAY BE A FRIEND TO YOU BUT IM SURE WE ALL CAN LISTEN TO DENNIS AND MICHELLE WITH MUCH GREATER EASE.I CAN'T BELIEVE SHE WAS ON FOR 11 YEARS.ALTHOUGH YOU DON'T SAY WHY SHE IS OUT,IM SURE IT WAS SOMETHING ON HER PART.

Anonymous said...

Casey,
Thanks for the nice tribute to Judi on your blog. She and Dennis were the best together. Dennis and Michele not so good. I don't listen to them anymore although I do Like Dennis a lot.
Judi: if you see this please try to get back to NJ l0l.5

Casey,
Love to listen to both you and Ray on my long drive home every weekday. I try to catch some of Dennis & Judy during my lunch hour. I felt like I stepped into some parallel universe when I returned from vacation at Disney World and heard Dennis and Michele. First I though Judy was on vacation but after a week or more I realized Judy is GONE! Started searching the internet and found an article in the Trentonian saying Judy left to spend more time with her kids, in particular her son with special needs. Good for Judy...the kids do grow up fast and before you know it they are surly teenagers with a whole set of mind-boggling problems. Anyway, glad I found your blog mentioning Judy. She was great and hopefully she will return one day better than ever...same as you.
P.S. I am the same age as Ray and think he is a pretty cool dude!

Doggiemom said...

If Judi left for personal reasons such as to spend more time with her kids, there would be absolutely no reason not to mention it or to let her say goodbye to the scores of people who listened to her and Dennis for the last decade. It would serve to show what a good person and mom she really is. The fact that it has become almost taboo to mention her makes it seem like there's more to it. Perhaps money or a contractual dispute. Whatever the case I don't think 101.5 would be as strong a station as it has become if Judi Franco had not been teamed with Dennis for the past 11 years. Shame on them for acting like she never existed. They should have left the photo gallery up as a memorial to the best radio team ever. Hats off to Judi.

The morning show will not be the same without Judi. Dennis and Michelle will never flow as good as Dennis and Judi did. Losing more listeners.

If you want to know what happened to Judy read it for yourself at

If anything give Michelle a break afterall she had nothing to do with Judy leaving.
